Kick off Seminar

 

The main objective of this seminar was to inform to the university community, as well as to people interested in the subject and the general public, the importance of this project. In particular, how to estimate hydrological parameters necessary to model calibration in a rainforest environment, employing the Panama Canal Watershed as a cases study. Other workshop objectives  was to report research activities conducted by the Centro de Investigaciones Hidráulicas e Hidrotécnicas (CIHH), as well as learn more about the experience of the project researchers. Also, we invited, the SENACYT I+D program at the time, José Causadias, to give a talk about the advances in Panama in the area of research. This seminar took place on January 24- 25, 2007, at the UTP Tocumen Campus. Speakers at this seminar included Eng. Erick Vallester 1, Eng. David Vega1, and Drs. Jose Fábrega1, Jan Hendrickx 2, Fred Ogden 3, and Jose Causadias 4. Participants included officials from the Autoridad del Canal de Panamá (ACP), Autoridad Nacional del Ambiente (ANAM), Fundación Natura y SENACYT. From the UTP attended students and professors from different schools, as well as personnel from regional centers of Chiriquí, Panama West and Colon.
