What Is the Halton Foundation Grant?

The Halton Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to enhancing indoor environmental quality and advancing human well-being in indoor environments. It provides funding to support both research and solutions aimed at improving aspects like air quality, ventilation, and thermal comfort.

Who Can Apply

  • Non-profit organizations conducting research or developing practical solutions to enhance indoor environmental quality.

Grant Types

  • One-time grants for short-term, single-year projects.

  • Multi-year grants for projects lasting up to three years.

  • Start-up program grants to help new initiatives get off the ground.

Funding Limits

  • Grants do not exceed USD 30,000 per year.

  • Only 10% of total project costs can be allocated to overhead or administrative expenses—this rule is strict and non-negotiable.

  • Application Period: July 1 – September 1, 2025

  • Decision Date: November 1, 2025. Award decisions are published on the Foundation’s website, and recipients are notified directly.

What the Grant Includes (Eligible Costs)

  1. Direct Project Costs

    • Travel expenses necessary for the project (e.g., field studies, research visits).

    • Project-related workshops, seminars, or training sessions.

    • Printing, publishing, or dissemination of project results.

  2. Staff & Research Support

    • Salaries or stipends for project staff, researchers, or assistants (only for the project duration).

    • Consulting fees if external expertise is needed for the project.

  3. Start-up Costs (for new initiatives)

    • Seed funding for pilot programs or innovative research ideas.

  4. Overhead / Administrative Costs

    • Allowed, but capped at 10% of the total project budget.

    • Examples: office supplies, utilities, or indirect project support.
