EPOS Scholarship - Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences
Master´s degree programme: Sustainable Development Mangement
EPOS (Entwicklungsbezogene Postgraduierten Studiengänge) is a scholarship for development-related postgraduate courses. Since 1987 the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) funds a number of scholarships for students from developing countries who would like to study development-related subjects in Germany. The master’s degree programme “Sustainable Development Management” is part of EPOS and can therefore award a number of scholarships to excellent students from developing countries every year.
Selection Criteria
Scholarship applicants:
- are from developing countries (click here for list of eligible countries)
- have a first qualifying degree in social sciences, economics or industrial engineering (or an interdisciplinary programme covering these fields) with an excellent grade point average
- comprise of at least two years of relevant professional experience
- are fluent in both written and spoken English
- have proven, development-related motivation and can be expected to make full use of their scholarship and education
Women and candidates from disadvantaged groups who meet the required academic and professional standards as well as show their commitment to development-related topics are especially encouraged to apply for the programme.
Next application period: May 1st 2025 to June 1st 2025
The next application period will be open from May 1st 2025 to June 1st 2025 via the uni-assist portal for a start of the study programme in 2026. Selected scholarship holders are able to start their funded studies either in the summer semester 2026 or winter semester 2026/27.
Application Process
The application period for the EPOS scholarship is open every year from May 1st to June 1st.
Applications for the EPOS scholarship must be submitted through the platform uni-assist. The uni-assist portal can be accessed via the following link: my.uni-assist.de. Please note that uni-assist asks for an administrative fee, which must be covered by the applicant and paid before the application deadline. There is no need to submit any hardcopies, please upload all required documents as scans via the uni-assist portal. Incomplete applications as well as applications sent to the university administration or the DAAD cannot be considered!

After evaluating all applications, interviews will be scheduled for the short-listed candidates. Afterwards the final candidates for the EPOS scholarship will be decided by the DAAD. The scholarship nominations are expected to be communicated until the end of October of each year. Scholarship nominees are then able to start their studies in the following year either in summer semester (March) or winter semester (September). Please note that every EPOS scholarship holder will need to apply additionally to the master’s degree course via uni-assist in the regular application period (15th January for the summer semester or 15th July for the winter semester) before starting their studies. Key Facts about the Scholarship
- Monthly payments of 992 euros
- Payments towards health, accident and personal liability insurance cover
- Travel allowance, unless these expenses are covered by the home country or any other source of funding
Under certain circumstances, scholarship holders may receive additional benefits.
