Introductory Workshop on Climate Services for the National Adaptation Plans

MASHAV - Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation together with Israel Meteorological Service – IMS in cooperation with World Meteorological Organization - WMO invite English-speaking professionals to participate in the Introductory Workshop on Climate Services for the National Adaptation Plans.

Background

In this introductory workshop we will discuss the essential ingredients of the required climate analysis supporting the adaptation plans of three sectors – Agriculture, Water & Energy. The participants will be exposed to the challenges and requirements of these sectors and to possible climatological practices for addressing these needs.


This short workshop is a joint venture of the Israeli Meteorological Service (IMS) with Israel's Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV) and is aimed for post-graduate climatologists in NMHSs in developing countries.

About the Program

Aims

  • Understand climate adaptation user needs (Agriculture, Water & Energy)

  • Understand how climate change predictions are performed and validated

  • Learn basic steps in preparing and analyzing climate trends and future scenarios for various users

Main Subjects

The program will include professional lectures and practical exsersices on: The methodology and milestones of climate modelling; The production of climate change indices; Stakeholders point of view.
