United Nations / Portugal Conference “Management and Sustainability of Outer Space Activities Conference”
The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) and the Portuguese Space Agency, are jointly hosting the “Management and Sustainability of Outer Space Activities Conference”. The Conference will provide a forum for stakeholders to discuss sustainability in the uses of outer space as well as frameworks for the governance of outer space activities, in order to contribute to the roadmap for and a future input to the Summit of the Future.
Sessions Overview
This conference series will begin with two preparatory virtual symposiums:
- The first virtual event to discuss the technical issues associated with sustainability in outer space activities will run from 23 to 27 October 2023.
- The second virtual event will comprise sessions discussing the policy and legal aspects of sustainable space activities, from 11 to 15 March 2024.
- These preparatory symposiums will feed into the third and final event, an in-person conference in Lisbon, Portugal on 14 and 15 May 2024 which will address the topics from the virtual symposiums as well as the governance of outer space activities.
