The World Space Forum ONU/Austria: “Space 4 Our Common Future” - United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA)

The World Space Forum event series aims at strengthening partnerships and promoting ongoing dialogue among the global community on a wide range of space issues to facilitate socioeconomic sustainable development. It provides an opportunity to draw attention to space solutions that will effectively support the areas mentioned in the various Policy Briefs leading to the Summit of the Future.

Objectives

The World Space Forum 2023 aims to:

  • Reaffirm and strengthen the contribution of space activities and space tools for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals;
  • Promote international and public-private partnerships for the development of a sustainable, future-oriented and strong space environment;
  • Address the need to improve existing communication approaches on the benefits of outer space technology and its applications;
  • Involve young people, as future space leaders, to address issues of importance for future generations;
  • Foster dialogue and close cooperation for developing a common space vision;
  • Put "Space2030" agenda in the centre as a guiding document to enhance space-derived economic benefits and strengthen the role of the space sector as a major driver for sustainable development;
  • Bring space actors together to exchange best practices and explore ways to jointly address challenges to humanity and sustainable development issues.

Submission and Deadline for Application

PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY.

All applicants interested in participating in the World Space Forum must complete the following:

1. Fill in the application form.

  • The application form includes open-ended questions:
    • On professional experience;
    • Motivation to participate in the World Space Forum;
    • Expectations from the meeting;
    • How learning and networking at the meeting will be used after the event.
  • The online application form is available here.

 2. Send the signature form in PDF

  • The signature form is available here: Signature Form World Space Forum 2023 (WORD, 76.68 KB)
  • Signed by the applicant and the Head of the nominating agency/organization
  • Please name your file: Surname_Name_Signature form.
  • Send the signed signature form in PDF to worldspaceforum[@]un.org

Why is this form necessary? To confirm that you have adequate health insurance; to confirm if you need funding; and to confirm that the organization that you represent (which can also be your own company) has approved your potential participation.

NOTE: It is mandatory to send the form duly completed to the International Relations office [email protected] , from here your application will be evaluated and sent to the Rector's office to obtain the Rector's authorization.

Besides this, applicants who wish to be considered to contribute to the event as a speaker or to present a poster will be asked to include an abstract of maximum 250 words in the online application form.

  • The call for abstracts closes  23 August 2023

Selection Criteria

Criteria to select participants include motivation and experience in the space sector.  Presentation and poster abstracts will be evaluated based on relevance of topic, alignment to World Space Forum objectives, concrete application on the proposed subject, and sound structure.
